SUMMARY:Beginner Mindful Knitting
DESCRIPTION:In this month-long series\, we’ll blend mindfulness and creativity through the art of knitting. We begin each session with mindful movements to help support our knitting experience – developing a comfortable posture\, loosening up the shoulders\, and mobilizing the hands. After a pause to set an intention for our project\, we begin knitting. We close our time with a brief mindfulness exercise and gratitude. \nThe knitting project you’ll work on is uniquely yours! It will be suitable for a beginner (i.e. a scarf)\, and yarn and needles are provided. Once finished\, you can keep your knitted item or choose to gift it to someone in need in the local community. \nJoin for the whole series! We meet Nov 6\, 13\, 20. DESCRIPTION:The practice of relaxing deeply brings great healing benefits to our body\, mind\, and spirit. In this class\, you’ll rest in shavasana (or another comfortable posture of your choice) for a guided relaxation experience. Unique to this practice is the incorporation of songs whose lyrics gently invite you into the present moment – where you can access your inner joy and peace – as well as soothing instrumentals on the Native American flute. \nThis practice is inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village tradition.

Whether you’ve been a lifelong knitter or are just getting started\, you’ll find a supportive crafting community here! \nWe begin each session with mindful movements to help support our knitting experience – developing a comfortable posture\, loosening up the shoulders\, and mobilizing the hands. After a pause to set an intention for our project\, we begin knitting. (Guidance is provided for beginners to learn the basics and for more experienced knitters to explore new stitch patterns and techniques.) We close our time with a brief mindfulness exercise and gratitude. \nThe knitting project you’ll work on is uniquely yours! It will be suitable for a beginner (i.e. a scarf) and adaptable to keep experienced knitters intrigued. Once finished\, you can keep your knitted item or choose to gift it to someone in need in the local community. (StudiOM will donate these items to the Day by Day Shelter.) Please bring your own yarn and knitting needles. (A limited amount of supplies may be available\, but are not guaranteed.)

DESCRIPTION:Join Kelsey and Pam to lift your voice and lighten your heart through mantra. \nIn this workshop\, we open to the experience with meditation\, vocal practice\, and introduction to three mantras\, then gently move into journaling\, singing\, and rhythmic instrument play – all with the intention of cultivating a compassionate heart. Exploring the mantras through vocalization and contemplation allows their healing energies to be cultivated and resonate deep within. \nAll are welcome.
